Learn to Curls

 Instruction on basic curling skills will be offered. 

Come out and Learn to Curl with us!  Our volunteer instructors will teach you the basics of curling and the  safety proceedures needed to play the sport. At the end of this two hour event you will be able to propel a rock down the ice, sweep the rock, know the rules of the game and be able to play the game at a novice level.

The Nova Scotia Stick Curling Association has funding from Sport NS to conduct clinics to promote stick curling play.  These clinics are free for the participants! The instructors are from the NS Stick Curling Association.

• Topics include safety, equipment, set-up and delivery.  

• There is a combination of off ice and on ice instruction with time to ask questions. Short discussion of the game of stick curling will be included. The last on ice portion of the clinic will be reserved for more instruction or, for those who are interested, to play a modified version of a stick curling game.

• The instructors will adapt the clinic to the participants. The initial off-ice process will include assessment of experience. 

• Groups will be formed and the basics will be taught for new stick curlers and some advanced tweaking of deliveries for the more experienced curlers.

Stick curling is a great option for those who have knee and back issues and might find the bending and crouching needed in traditional curling a challenge.
